The establishment of ISKCON in the Andaman Islands was pioneered by traveling Vaishnava monks and local devotees who sought to bring the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and Gaudiya Vaishnavism to the isolated archipelago. Beginning with humble home-gatherings and public Harinama processions in Aberdeen Bazaar in the 1990s, the movement acquired land in the quiet suburban setting of Brichgunj.
Dedicated community support enabled the construction of the present temple complex, complete with an airy prayer auditorium, residential quarters for brahmacharis, a spiritual book depot, and organic gardens.
