Historical chronicles record that Saint Ubaidullah, a direct disciple and spiritual descendant of Caliph Abu Bakr Siddiq, was guided by a divine dream to journey eastward across the Arabian Sea to propagate Islam. In 41 AH (approximately 661 CE), his vessel was shipwrecked on the reef near Amini Island. Miraculously surviving on a plank of wood, the saint reached Amini and subsequently traveled to Andrott, where he faced initial resistance from the local Hindu inhabitants.
Through persistent spiritual teachings, exemplary personal conduct, and miraculous deeds, he won the hearts of the islanders, who embraced Islam en masse. Hazrat Ubaidullah spent the remainder of his life teaching on Andrott, where he passed away and was interred in the sanctum of what is now the Juma Mosque.
