Built in 1761 AD by Maharaja Krishna Manikya, the temple served as the royal place of worship for the Manikya dynasty. The fourteen deities represent a blend of Hindu gods and local Tripuri tribal deities, reflecting the syncretic nature of Tripura's royal religious traditions. The temple was central to the religious life of the royal court and continues to be an important site for the local community.
