In September 1688 CE, Guru Gobind Singh Ji fought the historic Battle of Bhangani near Paonta Sahib, defeating the combined armies of the hill chieftains. On his triumphant return march toward Anandpur Sahib, the Guru and his battle-weary Sikh warriors camped on the quiet riverbank at this location.
A humble local Muslim resident named Nadu Shah (a devout admirer of the Sikh Gurus) welcomed the Guru with great devotion, serving the warriors and their horses with fresh milk, food, and warm hospitality over several days. Pleased with his selfless seva, Guru Gobind Singh Ji blessed Nadu Shah, declaring that the sacred spot would forever be remembered by his name as 'Nada Sahib' and that all who visited with pure hearts would have their prayers fulfilled.
For decades, the site was maintained as a modest shrine until a grand modern Gurudwara was constructed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
