The temple complex encompasses two distinct historical sanctuaries. The main temple was constructed between 1811 and 1815 CE by Maharaja Gopal Singh, the ruler of the princely state of Manimajra, in fulfillment of a solemn vow taken during a critical battle. The Maharaja also laid the foundation for the surrounding fortifications and ghats.
A quarter-mile away stands the second historical temple, known as the Patiala Temple, constructed in 1840 CE by Maharaja Karam Singh of the princely state of Patiala to provide royal patronage to the sacred hill sanctuary. In 1991, the Haryana government established the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board to manage and preserve this historic cultural heritage.
