Prem Mandir was conceived by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, a renowned spiritual leader and founder of the Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat. Construction began in 2001 under the supervision of the JKP organization and was completed in 11 years, with the temple opening to the public in February 2012. The temple was built entirely through donations from devotees worldwide. The project employed over 1,000 artisans and craftsmen, many of whom specialized in marble carving from Rajasthan.
The temple was consecrated on February 17, 2012, with a grand ceremony attended by thousands of devotees. The temple continues to expand, with additional structures including a meditation center and a Vedic school being added to the complex in subsequent years.
