Built in 1606 AD by King Hambir Malla Dev, the Rasmancha was designed to accommodate the village deities of Bishnupur who were brought here during the annual Ras festival. The Malla kings were great patrons of Vaishnavism, and this structure was central to their religious celebrations. The structure is now protected by the Archaeological Survey of India as a monument of national importance.
